Plane Crash - Ridgely Airpark
Saturday, July 23, 2011
Just after 0700 hours, units were dispatched to assist Station 400 with an Alert 3 aircraft emergency. As units were responding, they were advised by communications that it was a confirmed plane crash with one patient. Aviation was dispatched based on information received from the caller. Chief 4 arrived O/L and confirmed an ultra-light aircraft down in the field with one subject trapped. Officer 415(Utz) established command. E405 and Rescue 600 were assigned to the rescue group where a rapid extrication was performed. The patient was packaged and airlifted to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Maryland State Police and the FAA. Units: Rescue 600, E603, E405, Brush 403, Chief4, PM14, MSP, CCSD
